Barbie History Zine
Programs: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign
With this project, I had to take a topic, conduct research and write an essay, and lastly, design a 16-page zine. The topic had to be diverse and celebrate the fact that there's more than just straight, white men in the graphic design field.
For my zine, I decided to go with Barbie because she is a major icon for women of all ages. Especially since Barbie's entire slogan is that girls can become anything. In my zine,
I included icons associated with Barbie, such as lipstick, a high heel, and her ponytail. I focused on the history, creator, and rise of Barbie. Different shades of pink were used to make sure the zine screamed Barbie. I incorporated various text and image layouts to maintain the viewer's attention, such as using an image of an Barbie doll as the page background and then laying text and icons on top of it.
